Usage guide

Getting credentials

  1. Create or log in to an account at Resend.
  2. Open the API Keys page.
  3. Create a Resend API key and keep it private.
  4. When VX Agent asks for authentication, provide the key using Bearer authentication.

Do not paste the API key into the Swagger file, marketplace description, prompts, or chat messages.

How to use this API

Use the Resend API to send transactional emails, check email delivery status, manage sending domains, verify domains, and manage audience contacts.

A typical workflow is:

  1. Use GET /domains to check the sending domains available to the connected account.
  2. Use POST /domains to add a domain controlled by the user, then use POST /domains/{domain_id}/verify after the required DNS records have been configured.
  3. Use POST /emails to send an email with from, to, subject, and either html or text content.
  4. Use GET /emails/{email_id} to check the delivery status of a sent email.
  5. Use GET /audiences/{audience_id}/contacts to list contacts or POST /audiences/{audience_id}/contacts to add a contact when explicitly authorized.
  6. Use DELETE /emails/{email_id} only to cancel a scheduled email, when supported.

Every direct API request must include a User-Agent header. Use an Idempotency-Key when retrying an email request to reduce the risk of sending duplicate messages. The sender address must belong to a verified sending domain or an address permitted by the connected Resend account.

Safety and usage notes

Sending an email is an external side effect. Always ask for confirmation before sending messages to external recipients, especially when the message contains business, personal, financial, or confidential information. Verify the recipients, sender, subject, content, attachments, and scheduled time before sending.

Only manage domains and contacts controlled by or authorized by the user. Require confirmation before adding contacts, removing domains, canceling scheduled emails, or changing sending configuration. Respect consent, unsubscribe requirements, privacy laws, and anti-spam policies.

Do not expose the Resend API key. Do not send passwords, private tokens, or sensitive personal data unless the user explicitly authorizes it. Do not assume that an email was delivered merely because the API accepted the request; check the delivery status when necessary.
