What you can do with X (Twitter) Posting via MCP

Every endpoint below becomes a governed tool your AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, or a customer-facing VX agent) can call — with scoped permissions, sandbox testing, and audit logs.

MethodPathOperationDescription
GET /users/me getMe Get the authenticated user's own profile (id, username, name)
POST /tweets createPost Publish a new post (tweet) or a reply to an existing post. IMPORTANT: always confirm the exact text with the user before calling this — it is public and cannot be silently undone.
GET /tweets/{id} getPost Get a single post by id
DELETE /tweets/{id} deletePost Delete one of your own posts by id. IMPORTANT: confirm with the user before calling this — deletion cannot be undone.
GET /users/{id}/tweets getUserPosts List recent posts by a user id
POST /media/upload uploadMedia Upload an image to attach to a post via createPost's media.media_ids. CAVEAT: OAuth 1.0a signing of this multipart endpoint has known compatibility issues on X's side as of 2026 — use a Bearer (OAuth 2.0 user token) auth config for this op…

Usage guide

Setup

OAuth 1.0a is recommended because its access tokens do not expire.

  1. Create an X Developer App and enable Read and Write permissions.
  2. Generate the API Key, API Key Secret, Access Token, and Access Token Secret.
  3. In VX Agents, select OAuth 1.0a, enter these four credentials, and test the connection.

Posting with an image

Call uploadMedia with the image as Base64 and set media_category to tweet_image. Pass the returned media ID to createPost through media.media_ids.

Always confirm the final post text and attached media before publishing.
